The heavy storms in the last few weeks in Bolivia are hitting various regions of the Santa Cruz Department. The Chilón and Oconi rivers burst their banks damaging some hectares of crops and dwellings and Yapacaní has been declared a disaster area due to the numerous families affected.
Last Tuesday the 20th of February the RUBAU BOLIVIA road work of Saipina (Puente Taperas – La Palizada section) was affected by the floods. The project, which is currently in construction, suffered from the heavy downstream of the Chilón river. It also damaged farm land and peoples’ homes close to our works in Saipina. The quick response of our team, who decided to knock down one of the recent structures, served to redirect the flow of the water and was a great help to alleviate the floods. It was an altruistic act for the benefit of the local people, in line with our commitment to sustainable development, efficient and ethically responsible service to society.
RUBAU would like to express our thoughts to those affected by floods and to thank our team, who responded to the situation appropriately in the interest of the community.
