On 16 March Rubau Group president Joan Rubau visited the workshops and sheds of the Mexico City–Toluca Intercity Railway. Accompanying him were, Julio Pérez (Mexico Regional Manager), Julián García (Manager of Rubau México), Carlos Javier Gil (Director of Production) and José Manuel Valle (Manager of the Consortium). They took a tour of the site to see how work is progressing.
The contract for the works, worth over 45 million euros, was awarded to the Rubau Group, in a joint venture with the companies Ciacsa, MM-Mex, Sampol and Grupo Electro Costa, in March 2016.
The works include the construction of workshops and sheds, an administrative block and ancillary buildings, along with the permanent installations, the fixtures of each workshop and development of the works, on a plot covering approximately 22 hectares in the city of Toluca, as shown in the image:
Trains enter the facility via an extension of the viaduct from Zinacantepec terminal that crosses the south-bound carriageway in a westerly direction, and continues for roughly 600 meters to the workshop and sheds area.
The works are part of the Mexico City–Toluca Intercity Railway project undertaken by the Mexican Ministry of Communications and Transport (SCT). Measuring 57.7 kilometers, the railway will transport 230 thousand passengers a day on a journey lasting around 39 minutes.
Rubau Group’s experience in projects of this type, along with its well-consolidated presence in the country, have made it worthy of significant involvement in this railway project, which is a major investment in infrastructure by the Mexican government.
