RUBAU is to build the El Alto Sur cancer hospital in the city of El Alto, Bolivia. The project represents an investment of 29.27 million euros and is an initiative of the Bolivian Health Ministry with financing from the Inter-American Development Bank.
The complex will have a total floor area of 19,804 m2 and the construction contract anticipates completion in a period of 22 months. The new hospital will have 154 beds and will offer outpatient and inpatient services (with areas divided by specialities and sub-specialities), diagnostic support, and treatment. The centre, which will operate 24 hours a day 365 days a years, will also accommodate care training and research functions, and will coordinate with first- and second-level hospitals in emergency cases.
This project is being undertaken within the framework of the programme to reinforce the national health network, through which the Bolivian government is fostering improved access to healthcare for the country’s population. In order to carry out this admirable proposal, the government has placed its trust in RUBAU’s well-proven experience in the field of healthcare facilities.
RUBAU is currently constructing a maternity hospital in Colombia. The complex is located in the city of Ibagué, and once open will allow the full range of services for mother and baby care to be consolidated in one building. Within Spain, RUBAU has also undertaken high-profile healthcare projects such as Hospital CIMA and primary healthcare and residential centre for people with disabilities, both in the city of Barcelona.
