RUBAU has been awarded contracts for the execution of implementation works and improvement of accessibility measures to Colonia Jardín station (L10 and ML2 and ML3) and Pinar de Chamartín station (L1 and L4) on the Metro Madrid network.
It is not the first time that Metro Madrid has entrusted such work to RUBAU, the objective of which is to improve the autonomy of people with disabilities and special needs. RUBAU previously carried out accessibility works at Príncipe Pío station and Plaza Castilla station, among others.
The Metro Madrid Accessibility Plan covers a series of actions aimed at improving the accessibility of its facilities, with the aim that all people can travel under equal conditions.
The measures to be implemented by RUBAU in the stations include the installation of step-free access, including lifts, escalators and/or ramps; platform edge signage with tactile floor paving; the signalling of the safety zone on platforms and the area around ticket machines with tactile paving; the extension of handrails on fixed stairs and the reinforcement of vertical signage; the adaptation of the lighting system in entrances; the installation of voice-prompted menus and braille text marking; and the elimination of obstacles and danger points.
With its participation in the Metro Madrid Accessibility Plan, RUBAU will contribute to create a network that is part of the daily life of all Madrilenians safer, more comfortable, and more equal.
