GRUPO RUBAU, giving an example of its commitment to the ecological transition and sustainable development, has been approved as an energy investment company in the MES Barcelona project carried out by the Catalan capital’s town hall.
The 2030 Agenda is the roadmap for the city’s public policies and, with the MES Barcelona project, Barcelona City Council promotes investment projects hand in hand with private investors to accelerate the energy transition in the city. The objective is to promote the generation of photovoltaic energy and focuses on projects for large spaces (roofs of industrial buildings, logistics, office buildings, etc.), as well as flat roofs and roofs of residential buildings. In addition, investment is planned in energy rehabilitation projects for buildings with high energy consumption, such as hospitals, hotels and sports centers, and it also intends to invest in projects that promote innovation in the renewable energy sector and citizen participation.
MES Barcelona is a public-private financial co-investment mechanism (PPP), through which Barcelona City Council allocates €50M to investment projects presented by approved investors with experience in photovoltaics and energy rehabilitation. GRUPO RUBAU, thanks to the recent creation of its subsidiary PRENERGY, a company that offers comprehensive solutions in the energy sector and is always linked to the circular economy and sustainability, has obtained approval from the city council to participate as a co-investor specialized in the financing, design, construction and maintenance of renewable energy generation facilities and the rehabilitation of buildings based on energy efficiency.
