FERRAN GARRIGOSA, DIRECTOR OF PRENERGY, HIGHLIGHTS THE KEY ROLE OF ENERGY STORAGE IN CATALONIA ON RTVE

June, 2025

On June 21st, Ferran Garrigosa, director of Prenergy, took part in a report broadcast by RTVE (L’Informatiu) focused on the challenges and opportunities of Catalonia’s energy system. The broadcast addressed one of the most strategic topics in the energy transition: the development of battery parks to store the surplus production of renewable energy.

Currently, Catalonia does not yet have this type of infrastructure, despite the strong growth of solar energy. The Government of the Generalitat plans to multiply the installed renewable capacity by ten, but without storage, the stability of the electricity system cannot be guaranteed. In this context, over a hundred projects are already being processed to meet this need.

During his appearance, Ferran Garrigosa provided a clear and expert perspective on how these infrastructures will enable better energy management, make use of surpluses, and build a more resilient and sustainable system. He also mentioned that Prenergy is already actively working in this area with a pioneering storage project: a battery plant located in the comarca of La Selva. This facility stands out as the only project of its kind in Catalonia to receive public funding, reflecting our business group’s high level of innovation and environmental commitment.
