INCASÒL awards Rubau the first phase of a project to build 102 housing units in Trinitat Nova, Barcelona

September, 2013

INCASÒL has awarded Rubau the first phase of a project to build 103 housing units, commercial premises and flats. This phase corresponds to the construction of staircase A with 13 housing units between the streets Palamós and Aiguablava in the Trinitat Nova neighbourhood.

The building is adapted to the plots almost 6-metre upward slope in an east-west direction. Entrances are on the northern facade through an open space surrounding the building, which guarantees access using a series of ramps and paved areas connecting Palamós and Aiguablava streets.

The 13 dwellings will consist of seven dwellings with three bedrooms and six dwellings with four bedrooms. The result is a combination of styles which meets the needs of those to be housed there, who represent ever more diverse family units, and the demands of the functional programme.

The exhaust areas of the building have be grouped together as much as possible into vertical shafts, so that kitchen as well as mechanical ventilation takes up as little space as possible, with only one flue per housing unit. The flue is not in contact with any of the bedroom walls nor is any bedroom next to the wall of the lift shaft, in order to avoid bothersome noises. The kitchens are separate but with the option of creating a double access, entering from both the hall and the living room.

In general, this is a construction project which, considering its surroundings, is characterised by its sustainability, responding to the needs of the people of Trinitat Nova.
