PRENERGY TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN THE INDUSTRIAL ESTATE OF RIUDELLOTS DE LA SELVA

February, 2024

PRENERGY, in joint venture with Solventa 6, has signed an agreement with the Association of Owners of the Industrial Estate of Riudellots de la Selva to promote the circular economy and improve energy efficiency.

The Association of Owners of the Industrial Estate of Riudellots de la Selva (APRS), with the aim of promoting energy efficiency and sustainability among the companies that are part of it, has chosen PRENERGY and Solventa 6 as partners to create an energy community to promote self-consumption among the association’s companies. This initiative seeks to promote the production, consumption, storage, and sharing of renewable energy, for the benefit of the companies themselves and the environment.

The alliance, signed this February, is the result of a competition promoted by the APRS in which several corporations specialized in the renewables sector participated. The signed agreement prioritizes promoting sustainability through the use of local renewable energy and is open to including other services provided by the different subsidiaries of RUBAU Group, such as the development and integral management of biogas and biomass projects, electric vehicle charging stations, waste management, sanitation and water treatment, as well as building rehabilitation.

Members of the APRS, a non-profit organization that defends the interests of its affiliated companies, will have the opportunity to be part of the energy community benefiting from the energy projects promoted by PRENERGY and Solventa 6. The agreement foresees the provision of services through conversion companies, where members can invest their own funds, but also leaves the door open to contracting services without investment, but obtaining the benefit of the aggregated model that the agreement entails.

In the industrial estate of Riudellots de la Selva, there are currently more than 150 companies, of which more than 60% are members of the APRS. This business conglomerate generates an annual turnover exceeding 2,000 million euros and provides employment to more than 10,000 people. The association is convinced that establishing an energy community within this industrial area will be key to increasing energy efficiency and minimizing ecological impact, thus promoting the adoption of renewable energies among its companies and improving their competitiveness. In the words of Narcís Xifra, president of the APRS, “the agreement we have signed with Grupo Rubau and Solventa 6 is a clear example of our Industrial Estate’s commitment to the circular economy and the economic promotion of our territory. Creating energy communities will allow our members to produce, consume, store, and share renewable energy, which will bring economic benefits to our companies while promoting the energy transition of our Industrial Estate towards a more sustainable model.”

PRENERGY, the energy services subsidiary of RUBAU Group, was born out of the demand from our business group’s clients to offer all types of comprehensive solutions for their projects, promoting the circular economy, that model of production and consumption that involves sharing, reusing, repairing, renewing, and recycling existing materials and products to extend their life cycle. The agreement signed this month with the APRS is a clear example of RUBAU‘s commitment to the energy transition that allows us to position ourselves as an effective partner in this field for both public administrations and private sector and industry.
