RUBAU PERÚ- DEPÓSITO EXCÉLSIOR
Activos Mineros S.A.C. – AMSAC, a leading business in cleaning up of mine environments in Peru, has awarded the Joint Venture formed by RUBAU and two Peruvian companies to restore the Desmontes Excélsior mine, the world’s biggest silver mine. Its name is Quiulacocha-Excélsior and has amassed 200 million tones over a century of mining in Cerro de Pasto.
It is an important environmental and civil engineering project at a cost of approximately 40 million euros. The project has a long term objective of achieving the stability of the physical, chemical and water conditions in the area. This is to be done by the final closing up of the mine. In this way, the environmental impact will be reduced, protecting public health and safety as well as the natural surrounds. The Desmontes Excélsior mine is located in the Central Mountains of Perú, in Pasco, province of Cerro de Pasco and Simón Bolivar district. Because the work has to be done at a height of 4300 meters, there will be significant challenges.
The works to be done are preliminary tasks, stabilizing work (slopes stability, ground reinforcement systems and containment wall) hydrologic systems (platform and slope drainage, water wells, among other activities) earth coverage and revegetation, watering system and protection enclosures.
The involvement or RUBAU PERU in this project reinforces the intention of RUBAU GROUP to continue contributing to the economic and social progress of Peru, in this case with the objective to regenerate an area affected by mining.
