PRESIDENT PEDRO PABLO KUCZYNSKI VISITS THE RECENTLY COMPLETED AIRPORT AT JAUJA (PERU)

July, 2017

On 3 July, the official handover took place for the improvement works on the runway at Jauja’s airport, a project carried out by the consortium Consorcio Perú, of which RUBAU forms a part. The act, at the airport, was attended by the President of Peru Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, accompanied by the Vice President, Martín Vizcarra; the Minister for Transport and Communications, Bruno Giuffra; the Minister for Foreign Trade and Tourism, Eduardo Ferreyros; and the Minister for Education, Marilú Martens. The president and accompanying ministers arrived on the airline Latam’s inaugural flight to officially present the airport to the people of Jauja.

This new piece of infrastructure, which represents an investment of over four million euros, has created great expectations for the multiple economic and social advantages that it will confer on the region. The refurbishment and improvement of the runway surface offers enhanced conditions of both service and safety, and enables the airport to receive larger aircraft. The airport, which could previously only handle craft of up to 70 passengers, can now accept planes with a capacity of over 120 people. The companies LCPeru and Peruvian Airlines currently operate into the airport with Boeing 737 aircraft, and Latam has opened a new route to Jauja.

RUBAU GROUP’s experience in airport works has been a key factor in the success of the project, which has transformed Jauja’s Francisco Carle Airport into a strategic element in the strengthening of air transport communications in the centre of the country.
