AREMA IS AWARDED THE GIRONA AND GRANOLLERS WASTE MANAGEMENT CONTRACT

September, 2022

AREMA, in a joint venture with FCC, has entered the urban services management market with two large contracts for waste collection and street cleaning services in the cities of Girona and Granollers. The Girona contract amounts to 168 million euros and has an expected duration of 8 years, and the Granollers contract amounts to 51 million euros and has a duration of 10 years. The provision of these services involves the subrogation of more than 270 professionals.

The service, which is provided comprehensively, includes the collection, transport and treatment of all types of urban waste. The realization will be carried out applying the most rigorous safety, quality and efficiency protocols, and always under the RUBAU GROUP’s commitment to the ecological transition and sustainable development.

Both contracts are committed to innovation. It is worth highlighting the city of Girona, where a door-to-door collection system is scheduled to start up in December 2023 in neighborhoods with lower population density and the installation, in March 2024, of smart containers in the most populated areas of the city. In addition, new mobile clean points will be set up and a bulky waste collection service will be put into operation. All with the aim of improving the well-being of citizens by making their cities more and more sustainable.

With these new contracts, RUBAU GROUP gives continuity to the strategy of diversification of its business areas and expresses its commitment to the circular economy and the 2030 Agenda.
