The Home Affairs Department of Generalitat of Catalonia has awarded the contract for the project and construction of a temporary modular prefabricated building to the joint venture RUBAU-MEPAL. This building will house the Basic Police Area (ABP) of the Mossos d’Esquadra in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona.
The project, with a budget exceeding €2.2 million, is expected to take approximately six months to complete. The total area will be 1,049.50 square meters, distributed in modules that will be located in an interior courtyard of a block. All ABP services will be relocated there while the permanent police station is being constructed. The contract includes the execution of a transitional slab over the current structure and a building with a ground floor plus two floors using a system of reusable prefabricated modules. The project integrates the connection of the modules to existing sewage, water, voice, data, and electricity installations, as well as the assembly of the security system.
With the awarding of this modular construction to RUBAU, our business group’s commitment to industrialized construction is realized. This emerging sector arises from the intersection of traditional construction with new construction methods, where the industry plays a significant role through the manufacturing of constructive solutions.
