NEW CONTRACT AWARD IN MEXICO: RUBAU TO BUILD THE MARAVATÍO BYPASS

February, 2026

Rubau México has been awarded the contract for the construction of the Maravatío Bypass in the State of Michoacán, for a total amount of 785.2 million Mexican pesos (€38.5 million), VAT included.

The project, promoted by Red de Carreteras de Occidente (Abertis Group), will be carried out in the municipality of Maravatío and has an execution period of 487 days, from March 2, 2026 to July 2, 2027.

The scope of works includes the construction of 7.1 kilometers of new roadway, with a 12-meter cross-section under A2-type highway specifications, as well as the upgrading of 1.3 kilometers of the Maravatío – Ciudad Hidalgo state road, integrating it functionally into the new bypass. In total, 8.4 kilometers of road infrastructure will be delivered with flexible pavement (bituminous mix), in addition to earthworks, drainage systems, 13 major structures, and 2 grade-separated interchanges.

This new infrastructure will improve connectivity and road safety in the area, benefiting more than 123,000 users and residents across three municipalities in the State of Michoacán, reducing travel times and fostering regional economic development.

The project will be executed through a joint venture, with a 50% participation by Rubau México and 50% by Grupo Hycsa, strengthening collaboration between both companies in the development of technically complex infrastructure projects in the country.

This award continues the work our team has been delivering in Mexico and reinforces our trusted relationship with Red de Carreteras de Occidente, for whom we have already carried out major projects such as the Maravatío – Zitácuaro highway and maintenance works on the Maravatío – Zapotlanejo road.

A new milestone that consolidates Rubau’s presence in Mexico and once again highlights the technical expertise, commitment, and dedication of our teams on site.
