RUBAU GROUP TO LEAD THE JOINT VENTURE THAT WILL BUILD THE NEW GIRONA CLINIC

April, 2018

The Joint Venture led by RUBAU, along with Ortiz and Agefred, has been awarded the construction of the new Girona Clinic; whose budget amounts to 49 million euros. The contract was signed on April the 13th and the works are expected to start imminently. So, it is estimated that the new health infrastructure will be ready for public use by the end of 2020.

The new Girona Clinic will be located at the southern entrance of the city, on the Carretera de Barcelona 204-206 and occupying about 40,000 square meters, which is three times the current area. The surgical area and the day hospital will be considerably enlarged to enhance outpatient surgery and new treatments with the latest technology. In addition, the cardiology ward and the  X-ray department will also be improved.

The architectural project has an innovative and functional design that presents an efficient and sustainable clinic. The new building will renovate and promote the southern entrance of the city of Girona. It will have 3 underground floors and 8 above ground (that is in line with government size regulations) and includes terraces to optimise areas of natural light.

This infrastructure is expected to be a European reference in health services, improving the medical care of the population and moving towards the medicine of the future. To this end, Girona Clinic has trusted in RUBAU GROPU expertise in health infrastructures. We are currently working on three other hospital projects: Maternity and Paediatric Clinic in the city of Tolima (Colombia), El Alto Sur Hospital in the city of El Alto (Bolivia) and the recently awarded Third Level Hospital in the city of Potosí (Bolivia).
